Hostgator.com is number one hosting company for shared web hosting and it was founded in 2002 by Brent Oxley. HostGator.com. HostGator had passed the 200,000 mark in registered domains in 2006 and in 2010, it passed 4,000,000 domains. Currently, they are hosting more than 4 million domains and their reports also say, they are hosting approximately 3% Internet. No doubt, Hostgator.com is well known hosting company among other shared hosting companies like hostmonster, bluehost, godaddy hosting etc BUT nothing is perfect, we know. Some also say they dont like Hostgator Logo, Hostgator slogan etc, Whatever they say, its their choice. So, here is my experience with hostgator. I started using Hostgator in 2008 and this Hostgator fair review is based on my own experience.

Negative Points - Disadvantages
- Overloading on shared CPUs
- Limitations of resources (if you are having a wordpress blog with 5,000 visitors per day, Hostgator shared hosting is not for you)
- There Managed VPS are not much reliable. I purchased VPS level 6 for my tech blog with less than 5000 visitors per day and site was loading still so slowly and hostgator was saying my site is overloading their server. So, their VPS is not a Good VPS
- You can not add CNAME or such things from your Cpanel. You always need to contact their online support for such things and some times, their chat technicians take a lot of time for understanding what exactly you are saying.
- Lack of security - Yes! its not their duty but there should some security provided by them to stay your website away from hackers and malware attacks.
- Not a Decent Logo and Slogan
- We can not pay for more than 1 month to purchase a VPS and Dedicated Server. We have to pay them monthly bills if we want a dedicated server or VPS for more than one month.
Problems/negative points i mentioned are not huge things to neglect Hostgator's good points. Hostgator is really a Good host for shared hosting.
